I am currently restoring my Bronco and wish to add a little more HP. The problem is i don`t have MAF and was told i can`t beef my motor with out it. What option are available to give my Bronco a little Kick. It has a 5.0 w/ FI.

Which engine do you have in your Bronco? How many miles on it?

The typical way to go is the bolt-on route...headers, exhaust, air filter, etc. Porting and polishing the intake/heads would also be another option.

Jeff's Bronco Graveyard would be a good place to start for your restoration.

With speed density you can still do some mods you just have to becareful with cam selection. Crane cams do make some speed density friendly cams. Some mods I would start with are headers, underdrive pulleys, super chip, K/N filter. You can always convert to mass air as well.

Some super cheap ways to increase hp without opening up the engine....

first and foremost, HEADERS!!! Summit has them for around $200.00

increase exhaust pipe diameter to help the motor breathe.
(including aftermarket upgraded catalytic converter and muffler...Thrush, Flowmaster etc.etc.)

UPGRADE spark plugs, wires, coil/ignition points, and air cleaner
(NGK plugs have good write ups, Mallory ignition is good, and Air Hog filters for the intake)

change oil every month for three to six months, use additive like LUCAS oil stabilizer.
And don't forget to use oil flusher when you do your oil change.

Use copious amounts of carbon cleaning/solvent down the intake. Clean them carbs, or if you have FI, use Injector cleaner every fill up at the gas station for at least three months.

These little tips can increase hp 20 -50, over the course of time. Be patient and be smart.

or if you want to be stupid, by a nitrous system for $300.00 yeah, you'll have the fastest bronco but you'll burn out the piston rings in 3 weeks!!! (trust... it happened to me!)
