The project that I am currently involved with is puting a High output block into a 78 ford bronco, my goal is to keep the truck stock as much as possible. I wont be upgradeing the suspension, axles or transfer. I am currently repairing and getting the them back to original. I realise that im going to need diffrent enginge supports and a C6 trans with a long enough tailshaft. But the main problem is finding a 50oz C6 flexplate... so far I have only found the 28oz varity. I would like to add that I dont want this post to turn into a Bigblock vs Smallblock post. Dont worry the motor will have plenty of power to pull all 2800lbs of bronco. The problem is, for now, a 50oz C6 flex plate. Also the question need to be answered if there is a diffrenc from a car and a truck flex plate. Thanks for listening.

I assume you must have a c6 now for your Bronco. What starter were you going to use? Remember you have to match it with your flexplate as well. If you are using the original c6 bronco starter I believe it to be a 164 tooth. Now flexplate options. You could call Summit or another dealer and see if they have a 164 tooth 50oz flexplate for your application. I also believe the ford aod is 164 tooth 50oz flexplate. If you can compare it to the original and see if it will work. You could also go to napa and ask for a flexplate for a 1985 f150 302 c6 auto. Ford changed to 50oz after 82 so anything after that year should work. I hope this helps.

THANK YOU! This information isnt exactly common knowlege. I acctually got an e-mail this morning forma a tranny guy with the flex paltes' part# is 529620, and yes its a 164 tooth 11.5 Bc with a 50oz weight. This is all the info I have, and really is all I need, I hope this info is helpful to others with a similar problem.

Isnt it anybody who has considdered to change to a 7,3 litre Power stroke Diesel?
Ive thought about it and the only thing stopping me, is the lack of funds...
There you have a motor thats both strong, fun and cheap on gasmoney...
If there is anybody in the USA that has made the swap of engines in a Bronco, please contact me.
Whats the price range on a 7,3 litre in USA?? Ive got a pal that could get it over here by freghtship if I ordered one. And I bet it would be alot cheaper overthere!
