I have a '94 F-150 with the 8.8 and 3.55 gears. I HAVE BLOWN UP TWO REARS IN THE PAST TWO MONTHS , and I was wondering how easliy the 9" would bolt up to the truck. what would I have to modify on the axle or truck to make it fit? I am going to see what I can find one off of in my area. I am just tired of dumping money into me rear end. Any info would be appreciated

You should consider a swap to a 10.25 rear axle 8 lug ,a stronger axle with 3.55 or 4.10 gears in trucks already. Then you can swap parts to make your front axle 8 lug also. What size tires are you running? Multiply tire size by .12 to get a axle ratio you need to keep from breaking axles. Go up in number of ratio for more power , down in number for more gas mileage.Good luck with your truck!

Out of curiosity, what have you been doing when the rearends have blown up?

A 9" swap would be pretty straightforward. Things you'd need to be mindful of are:

1.) Does your '94 F150 have rear ABS? If so, the 9" will need a provision for it or you will be without rear ABS and potentially have a the "REAR ABS" light on all the time.

2.) Leaf spring perches may need to be relocated depending on where you get the rearend from.

3.) You may need to adjust the length of your driveshaft. You won't really know until you mate the driveshaft back to the truck and rearend.

I looked at your registry entry and it looks like you have a 302 in your F150. Is it built up? It seems odd that you're losing 8.8" rearends so frequently. The 8.8 is a nice rearend and should stand up to some abuse as long as you're not offroading and running large tires. I would suspect losing an axle shaft before anything in the differential, too.

yes if you got a 9" out of an 80's moged truck it would bolt right in with no mods.

BUT your running a 94
you'll lose your ABS with all trucks from 92 up had and you'll also lose your spedometer, which also runs off the rear axle and if your running a e40d you'll lose your shifting, the little plug in your 94's rear axle is a VSS vehicle speed sensor.
it tells the computer how fast your running and tells the e4od when to shift,
your tranny will still shift but the are going to be hard hard shifts, and i might not let it gointo over drive.

as far as blowing axles the 8.8 is a faily strong and reliable axle, i'm suspecting the rear axle is not being rebuilt properly, and what exaclty have you blown? axle shafts? diif gears? spiders?
