In building my garage the last couple of days, I have noticed a few peculiar bits I thought you might want brought to your attention.
1) Anytime I click on a link, or attempt to submit information within the SuperMotors site, it will not proceed until I move the mouse. Say I'm editing a caption, and I finish typing and click "Submit" or "Done". It won't proceed to the next page unless I move the mouse a little bit. I think this may have to do with some of the animated ad banners, but I'm not sure.
2) When renaming a folder or an album, it does nothing, and locks up the browser (can't minimize, close, change tabs, ANYTHING) unless I press the escape key once. Then the Javascript window pops up and allows me to change the name, and when I hit enter or click OK, it goes on like nothing happened.
That's it.

Firefox 1.5.0.10, using tabbed browsing and aggressive popup blocker |

Hi Alan, thanks for your feedback.

Can you confirm if this is ONLY when editing captions, or are you saying any link on SuperMotors.net, no matter which page is not doing anything unless you move your mouse? The reason I ask is because the "edit caption" functionality is brand new and utilizes different functionality than other functions on the site. If you are specifically experiencing this problem with just the "edit caption" functionality, then we will need to duplicate your setup with Firefox and your extensions. If it's happening site-wide, I'd be interested in seeing what happens if you disable the aggressive pop-up blocker just for supermotors.net.

This is certainly abnormal behavior! Is it possible to whitelist supermotors.net in your pop-up blocker? We do not serve pop-ups or pop-unders on supermotors.net and actually require pop-up functionality for new messages posts and some of the functionality in the garage.
I'm also curious as to what other extensions you have installed in Firefox. We develop and use Firefox as our day-to-day browsers and have not experienced the problems you describe above. We have not, however, run Firefox 1.5 in some time due to Firefox 2 being released. I would be interested in also seeing if you experience the same problems in Firefox 2.
Thanks,
-Eric

OK, it seems to be happening site-wide, including the forums. Popups work fine on the forum when I click a Reply link, with or without the Firefox built-in popup blocker. I don't have to ctrl-click it or anything. But after I click Submit at the bottom of this here window, the popup window closes itself, and the webpage beneath (the thread) will not proceed until I move the mouse. |

OK. Same thing. Until I moved the mouse 10 seconds later, the webpage for the thread would not reload with my new message shown.
Now I have added www.supermotors.net to my popup-allowed site list.
I'll click Submit and see what it does... |

Works fine now. Just tested in the garage as well. With www.supermotors.net added to my allowed sites list for popups, I can do anything without touching the mouse.
THANK YOU!!!
Now as for Firefox 2, I don't have that installed on this machine. But it *IS* installed on my wife's computer and the next time I use it, I'll check and see how it works out. |

What happens when you click my name to the left of this post (it'll bring you to my profile)? Does it sit there until you move the mouse?

As for clicking profile names and moving between pages, with the popup blocker activated for this site, it wouldn't do ANYTHING until I moved the mouse. Now this isn't usually a problem unless my hands are already on the keyboard, whereas I would tab down to Submit and go. When viewing profiles or photos, my hand is already on the mouse and probably moving it. If it wasn't for keyboard shortcuts, I never would have noticed. All is well with supermotors added to the list. |
