The story
I have almost no clue as to this bike's history before I bought it in 2002, I just know I'm glad I did. Quick enough to be fun, big enough to be very comfortable on long trips, small enough it's not a land barge, enough storage to make a heck of a good commuter bike. Getting 53mpg on my commute and 60mpg highway is nice too, and I'm not particularly easy on the throttle. She's currently torn down while I build brackets for a Vetter fairing -- naked is fun, but my need for a practical commuter override that. She'll get paint once the fairing and bags are on. The faded red was bad enough as it is, but the new fairing and bags are white. She'll be either black or silver soon.
Incidentally, she's not a GL650I, just a GL650. No factory bags or fairing. However, the option wasn't open in the convenient drop box. — ChuckVA
