10/14/09Repair new toys!
Talked myself into needing a rotisserie and so I bought one. These are pretty cool.
Now to get crackin' on the floor repairs.

06/28/09Modification Lots done
Replaced the rear brake shoes, hardware, park brake cables and all of the frame mounted brake lines.
Replaced the fuel tank vent/vapor line
Repacked the front wheel bearings, rebuilt the calipers and replaced the brake pads.
Replaced the idler arm and Pitman arm and cleaned/checked the rest of the steering.
Installed the new 3500 stall converter and installed the engine and transmission.
Modified the transmission crossmember to solve an annoying noise problem. A few more odds and ends and it's on to the bodywork. (Yuck!)

06/20/09Modification Reassembly time.
Cleaned up the exhaust system, repaired the stripped mounting holes and painted it with high temp aluminum paint (too cheap for ceramic coat), blasted and painted all the hangers. Cleaned up the driveshaft loop and installed it. Checked the rear axle, cleaned it and installed the weight jacks and the 300lb springs.

06/17/09Modification Paint at last.
50 hours later, 8 of the cage mounts are installed, the rear crossmember replaced, a bunch of icky factory welds re-done and the frame is clean and painted for re-assembly.

06/15/09Modification Finally
After way too long most of the rust is cleaned off and 8 of the roll cage mounts are welded on.

05/14/09Modification Donkey work!
Blah! Hours of removing the old roll bar mounts, rewelding some hideous factory welds and cleaning up rust with a grinder and a cup brush.
This is too much like work! LOL.

2 weeks later and it finally comes off.

A little more prep work for another few hours and then over to the fab shop for the cage install.

03/29/09Modification Off the deep end!
So now things get weird.
Removed the entire dash and steering column in preparation for replacing the homebuilt rollbar with a full SCCA/NHRA legal rollcage made from 2"x.120" DOM. Along with new seats, HANS compatible belts and a Firefox fire suppression system. Also replacing all of the body mounts with hard poly. And while I'm at it, install Hydro-boost and tilt steering.

03/05/09Repair 2009 rebuild
after a years delay, the resurrection begins!
a fresh machined block that's been modified with screw-in core plugs and all of the main oil galleries drilled to 1/2" (harder than it sounds BTW) and partially filled with resin. And it only took 30 hours or so to get to the point of final assembly.
New balanced crank, 2 rods, bearings, oil pump, file fit Totalseal rings. Same pistons and cam though.

08/03/07Repair And it does!
Retorqued the heads and readjusted the valves and drove it home.
It'll hit the rev limiter at 7000 rpm easily, letting it shift automatically at 6500 rpm causes the tires to break loose laying rubber at 60 mph.
That gets some strange looks!

08/02/07Repair It runs!
16 days and $4000 later it runs again.
With the new solid roller cam and valvesprings it should turn 7000 rpm with ease.

07/27/07Repair update
The new AFR heads arrived and have been modified for the new bigger valve springs.
Polished all the bearings ,cleaned out all the debris and replaced #8 piston with one from the old motor.
Just waiting for the rest of the parts to show up, hopefully today.

07/17/07Repair more engine fixing
With less than 2000Km on the newly rebuilt motor, the sintered metal lifter guide broke causing #8 exhaust valve to hang open. This resulted in the valve head breaking off and getting embedded in the piston and destroying the cylinder head in the process.
Goodbye hydraulic roller cam and hello solid roller with real lifter tie bars.
