We bought our 63 Fairlane 500 4 dr from a friend. He bought it from a lady who inherited it from her father. It was in nice shape, but had some rust and the interior was getting bad. It was stored for about 20 years in a barn. It was started weekly, and driven monthly. The original owner took very good care of it, which made it easy to restore. It was sanded and painted, minor body work was done using metal. Interior was matched to original color and material. Exterior color is Alabaster, which was very close to original color. Glass is all like new, with new weather stripping throughout. Has every piece of chrome and trim, which was re-plated if needed. Only needs factory A/C unit, a cig lighter, door lock caps, roller handle on drivers side, and the stock radio needs to be hooked up. The steering box needs to be tightened a bit, but I actually like the couple inches of play. Gives it character, and keeps my wife from wanting to drive her. I drove her with an escort from Bullhead City, Az to L.A with no problems, other than trying to keep her under 80 mph. I plan to get another 63 4 dr, and my step son and I will restore that one ourselves. This one was restored for about $6800, and I have all receipts, and pictures before and during restoration. |
