1960 Ford Fairlane “The 60 model”
About the 1960–1961 Ford Fairlane
The 1960-1961 Ford Fairlane was the last full-size Fairlane, riding Ford's all-new 1960 big-car body on a 119 inch wheelbase. By this point Fairlane had slipped from top trim to the lower rungs of the full-size line, sitting below the Fairlane 500 and the Galaxie. Engines ran from the 223 cubic inch Mileage Maker six through the 292 Y-block V8 up to the 352 FE, with the 390 FE joining the option list for 1961. After 1961 the Fairlane name moved to Ford's new intermediate, so these two years close out the nameplate's full-size run.
The story
I obtained this Fairlane 500 2-door sedan from Sam DeLay of Chattanooga, the original owner. He worked for the National Weather Service at Lovell Field for many years. The car was a light blue until I had it painted bright red at a shop in Calhoun, GA. You're welcome to check out a car club my wife and I belong to: AdventistRoddersClub.org. God bless you! — Walter Sharp
