1905cc DOHC MPFI 4-cylinder. 160bhp, 135lb/ft. torque. It may not sound like a lot, but for 1989 this wasn't bad - and light weight plus good aerodynamics give it a 0-60 time of around 8.5 seconds, with a top speed somewhere in the 130mph range. |

Fantastic Peugeot 5-speed gearbox. This is one of the sweetest shifters I've ever used, with a positive, slightly notchy action and excellent gear spacing. |

Purchased with 109,000 on the clock after an engine rebuild due to a blown head gasket (previous owner's nephew had run it out of coolant). Apart from general maintenance, this car has been dead reliable and is great fun in the corners - although slower than modern BMWs and the like, the alacrity with which it slices through the curves on Mulholland Drive usually scares the hell out of other drivers. Memo to automakers: this is how you make a FWD vehicle handle correctly. Please copy as necessary. |
