The 2017 Acura MDX belongs to the third-generation (YD3) MDX and marks that generation's mid-cycle refresh, which replaced the earlier chrome beak grille with Acura's diamond-pentagon grille and reworked the front and rear fascias. The standard powertrain is a 3.5L SOHC i-VTEC V6 rated at 290 horsepower, paired with a 9-speed automatic and offered with either front-wheel drive or SH-AWD (Super Handling All-Wheel Drive). For 2017 Acura also added the MDX Sport Hybrid, which combined a 3.0L V6 with a three-motor hybrid system for 321 horsepower and used a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission with SH-AWD. The AcuraWatch driver-assistance suite became standard across the lineup this year, and the body remained a three-row, seven-passenger mid-size crossover.
