BMW M5

2000 BMW M5 Specs & Photos

The 2000 BMW M5 belongs to the E39 generation and was the first model year of that M5 sold in the United States. It is powered by the S62 V8, a 4941cc (4.9L) DOHC 32-valve unit with individual throttle bodies and double-VANOS, rated at 394 hp (SAE net) at 6600 rpm and 369 lb-ft of torque at 3800 rpm. The 2000 BMW M5 was offered only as a four-door sedan with a six-speed Getrag manual transmission driving the rear wheels, with no automatic option. It carried the pre-facelift E39 body, as the facelifted (LCI) 5 Series update did not arrive until the 2001 model year.
