Chevrolet C-6500/Kodiak

2005 Chevrolet C-6500/Kodiak Specs & Photos

The 2005 Chevrolet C6500 Kodiak is a Class 6/7 medium-duty conventional truck from the third-generation Kodiak line (2003-2009), built on GM's GMT560 platform. For 2005 the C6500 was diesel-standard, using the 7.8L Duramax LG4 inline-6 turbodiesel (built by Isuzu) rated roughly in the 200 to 300 net-horsepower range depending on configuration, with a 7.2L Caterpillar C7 inline-6 diesel (about 207 to 250 net horsepower) offered as an alternative; the 8.1L Vortec L18 gasoline V8 was also available within the medium-duty range. It used a vertically oriented cab derived from the Chevrolet Express van, offered in two-door and four-door crew-cab forms with a forward-tilting hood, and could be paired with manual gearboxes (5, 6, 9, and 10-speed) or Allison automatics (5 and 6-speed). The 2005 model year was a mid-generation carryover within the 2003-2009 third generation, with no major mechanical changes versus the adjacent 2004 and 2006 trucks.
