The 1997 Dodge Neon was a carryover year in the first-generation Neon line (1995-1999), sold alongside the mechanically identical Plymouth Neon. The 2.0L SOHC inline-four rated at 132 hp remained standard, with a 150 hp 2.0L DOHC version offered in sportier trims. Body styles stayed a four-door sedan and a two-door coupe, with a five-speed manual or three-speed automatic. No major powertrain changes separated it from the adjacent 1996 and 1998 model years.
