The 1974 Ford Thunderbird was a sixth-generation two-door hardtop coupe sharing its body and platform with the Lincoln Continental Mark IV, one of the largest and heaviest Thunderbirds built. Its only engine was the 460 cubic inch 385-series V8, rated at 223 SAE net horsepower and paired with a C6 three-speed automatic. Federally mandated 5-mph impact bumpers were fitted front and rear for 1974.
