The 1987 Honda Prelude was the final model year of the second generation (1983-1987), a two-door coupe with pop-up headlights and double-wishbone front suspension. North American buyers chose a base 1.8L SOHC four or, in the 2.0 Si, a fuel-injected 2.0L (1,955 cc) A20A3 SOHC 12-valve rated 110 hp (SAE net) and 114 lb-ft. A five-speed manual was standard with a four-speed automatic optional. The 1987 Honda Prelude carried over mechanically before the 1988 third generation introduced mechanical four-wheel steering.
