The 1998 Isuzu Hombre was a compact pickup built on the second-generation Chevrolet S-10 (GMT325) platform and sold only in North America, differing from the S-10 mainly in its front sheetmetal, grille, and lights. Base models used a 2.2 L (2198 cc) inline-four rated at 120 hp (net), with an optional 4.3 L Vortec V6, paired to a 5-speed manual or a 4-speed automatic. For 1998 Isuzu broadened the lineup by adding four-wheel drive and an extended-cab body (marketed as the Spacecab) alongside the regular cab, and gave the truck a restyled front end. The Hombre was a mid-production entry in the 1996-2000 run, so 1998 expanded its configurations rather than changing the underlying platform.
