The 1976 Jaguar XJ6 belongs to the Series 2 generation of Jaguar's XJ saloon, introduced in September 1973 with a raised front bumper line and a shallower grille to meet United States regulations. It used the 4.2 L XK double-overhead-cam inline-six, with the four-door long-wheelbase saloon as the standard body and the two-door XJ6C coupe also offered. United States cars ran twin Zenith-Stromberg carburetors and a Borg-Warner three-speed automatic, with output near 160 hp (net). The 1976 car was a carryover within the Series 2 run, which continued through 1979.
