Land Rover Freelander
2002 Land Rover Freelander Specs & Photos
The 2002 Land Rover Freelander marked the first model year the L314-generation Freelander was sold in North America, arriving as a five-door compact SUV. Every US-market 2002 Freelander used the 2.5-liter Rover KV6 DOHC V6 rated at 174 horsepower and 177 lb-ft of torque, paired exclusively with a five-speed JATCO JF506E automatic transmission that included a CommandShift manual mode. Permanent all-wheel drive and Hill Descent Control were standard, and buyers chose among S, SE, and HSE trims. The three-door SE3 body style did not join the US lineup until 2003, so for 2002 the five-door was the only configuration offered.
