The 1989 Lincoln Continental was the second year of the front-wheel-drive generation launched for 1988, Lincoln's first front-wheel-drive car, built on a stretched Taurus-derived platform. The 3.8 liter Essex V6, rated 140 net horsepower, drove through a four-speed automatic transaxle. Anti-lock brakes and air spring suspension at all four corners were standard.
