The 1998 Lincoln Continental received a mid-cycle restyle with new front and rear styling on the front-wheel-drive ninth generation. The 4.6 liter DOHC InTech V8 continued at 260 net horsepower, with the bump to 275 arriving for 1999. It remained Lincoln's only front-wheel-drive sedan.
