This view shows the top-well patch that I applied. It was torn when the trunk torsion bar shot through it while I was trying to remove it. You can also see the brighter blue torsion bar, which is the replacement that was painted. Now the trunk works as good as it did before the break, using the same slot, (which is the least amount of pressure). Pressure is increased with every added slot to the right. If one wanted the trunk to pop open all the way on its own without any help at all, you could put it one of those slots. But that's not how it worked originally. It just popped up a couple of inches, and you move the top up to whatever position.
