The 1968 Mercury Cougar entered its second year with federal side marker lights and a broader engine lineup, as the 302 replaced the 289 small-block during the year and the 428 Cobra Jet arrived in spring. Limited editions included the big-block GT-E and the Dan Gurney-themed XR7-G.
