The 1993 Nissan Altima introduced the nameplate as a first-generation model (chassis code U13), replacing the Stanza and built in Smyrna, Tennessee. It used a 2.4L KA24DE DOHC inline-four rated at 150 hp (net), driving the front wheels through a 5-speed manual or 4-speed automatic. The 1993 Altima was sold only as a 4-door sedan in XE, GXE, SE, and GLE trims.
