The 2017 Subaru Impreza launched the fifth generation as the first production model on the Subaru Global Platform, which Subaru credited with roughly 70 percent greater torsional rigidity. A direct-injection FB20 2.0-liter flat-four made 152 horsepower. It was also the first Impreza assembled in the United States, with production moving to Subaru of Indiana Automotive in Lafayette, Indiana, in both sedan and five-door body styles.
