The 1991 Toyota Land Cruiser launched the 80-series FJ80 in the United States, a larger wagon on a 112.2-inch wheelbase. Coil-sprung solid axles replaced leaf springs at both ends, and full-time four-wheel drive replaced the previous part-time system. The 4.0-liter 3F-E inline-six carried over at 155 horsepower with a four-speed automatic, a combination that lasted until the 4.5-liter 1FZ-FE twin-cam six arrived for 1993.
