HELLO ALL Yesterday, while at place that I do business, I was in the parking lot in my 2002 “X”V10, pulling up to the end of the lot and ready to exit almost at a stop! The “X” took off with out any warning. With me standing on the brake at Very high RPM and in 2wd with the front tires spinning? The “X” shot straight out into traffic, where I was hit buy an on coming pickup. While reviewing the accident scene with the officer, he informed me That he had seen this many times with Ford vehicles. He also stated the marks on the pavement appeared to be “spinning front tires”, not skid marks from the brakes. There were no marks from my rear tires!!! This had happened to me once before at a stop sign in a mild form. Unfortunately, I had just purchased the “X” and did not think too much of it. I also currently own an F350 diesel, and had owned an F150 and an F250 diesel and have never experienced this type of problem. My wife had a 1996 Ford Taurus company car and in 1997, she had a similar problem. Her car would lunge forward in traffic with her foot on the brake. She had a difficult time with Ford before the problem occurred with a mechanic driving, after this incident, her company retired her car from the fleet. She then drove a 1998 Taurus and never had a problem. Has anyone ever had to deal with a similar problem? Any suggestions on how to deal with Ford? OR KNOWS WHAT CAUSES THIS TO HAPPEN! We love our “X”, but we want to be sure this will not happen on a busy highway and cause someone loss of life or limb!

I have been a Police Officer for over 13 years working in the Traffic Bureau/Freeway Patrol doing accident investigations and I have never heard of this from any vehicle let alone "X"

Time to go to school ! The Ford tech has taken the "x" for a ride and had an "occurrence" of the same type at a stop sign. The faulty part (he thinks) is the idle control sensor, also go to the office of defects & investigations web site and see how many of the same "occurrences" you find there. Maybe your to young to remember Audi's having this problem.
