Hi guys new to the site. Seems like I will be spendng some time here. I would like to thank all of the posters here for helping me decide on an X. Last night I spent at least eight hours researching and reading as much as I could on this wonderfull site.
I was debating on wether I wanted a gas or diesel engine. What kind of package to look at, and any potential problems with the X. I was also comparing it to the Burb and Yukan't. There is no comparison, the X blows them out of the water.
So I decided on the gas over the diesel. The diesel would have been great but I wont drive it more than 12,000 miles a year. Plus my wife would not know how to handle the diesel, with her frequent stop trips. Also the maintenance involved with the diesels.
One more thing. I don't know if this was just a salesman bluff but I was considering a 2003 6.0 PSD, but the salesman, from another dealership, talked me out of it. He almost assured me that it was a buyback vehicle. Since there are very few non buy back used 6.0's out there.
So here is the the "X "I will get delivered tomorrow.
2004 Limited 4x4 6.8, with 22500 miles, and it's a mineral gray. . For an amazing price of 30,998 plus tax and license. The vehicle was bought at auction. I had it carfax checked and it was clean. The "X" is pristine. I can't freaking wait to have it.
Next I need to read the boards for any aftermarket bolt ons I can put on my new beast.

Well that's the problem. I have not been able to settle on a car or truck for more than a year. I traded a 2500 Ram for a 2004 Nissan Maxima. I relized I am simply not a car guy. So I will have my X as my weekend vehicle, and I will pick up a cheapie commuter car later. |

Congrats on the purchase!!! You will love everything the X has to offer as it is an extremely versatile vehicle.
In regards to not hanging onto cars too long...I have a similar problem. I'm on record pace with my X with over 4 years of ownership and 126,000 miles. Most mileage I've ever put on a single vehicle. There's plenty more to come, too!

Welcome to the Excursion slot and having a strong interest in the X
It's truly a vehicle like none other.
My wife used to be a car person but once she got into an Excursion in 2002 she had to have one period
Gas or Diesel engine there'll be plenty of mods you can do to enhance engine and handling performance
Post anytime with questions, information, etc you may need regarding the Excursions
