OK so you're experienced...maybe JohnBoy can now realize what an ice scraper is and the pain and suffering us northerners go through every winter.

Ice scrapers......winter....now your talking my language. I don't mine the ice, it's the 200lbs snow bank I carry around on my hood and roof

I think I paid arond $349 for the Ford remote start and Ford alarm, installed. You can get each individually, but I think they get arond $250 for just one. I figured, for the extra $100, I might as well get both.

I have the Ford Remote Start and Alarm on my '04 PSD. It does wait for about 20 seconds before turning the engine over. The delay is the same, no matter how long it takes for the glow plug light to go out. There is also a time out setting. I haven't timed it, but I think it's about 5 minutes. That way, if you start it and get caught up doing something else, the engine won't idle forever.

I have mine set to run for 24 minutes (my other option is 12 minutes). After 24 minutes, it turns off.

My remote start will start up the X the moment after the "Wait to Start" light goes off.

I hope so, 5 minutes isn't even long enough to move the temp needle on mine! Don't get good heat until the needle's about 1/3 the way up the dial...

Soon as the stock temp gauge hits the first line the temps coming out of the dash is 80-90 degrees, that's signal to get going

The remote start may be an addition in the near future for sure

I Do feel your pain - I really do.....

BUT...
I don't like the cold...
I don't like the wet...
put them together and I am one UNHAPPY puppy !!!!

I'll stay RAT heyer in Texus !!!!

(course if it continues to rain like it has for the last 8 days - I might reconsider !)

That's one thing about the yearly rainfall in Texus - we get it from TWO rain events...
In the fall and in the Byron Nelson week !!!!

*****************************************************

And $349 is a GREAT price for the OEM Ford remote...

I paid $450 IIRC for the Ford Gold installed at the dealer...

there are aftermarket ones that Circuit City - Best Buy - etc... install that many are happy with...
but years ago I was in the middle of one of those finger pointing matches between the aftermarket and dealer and I chose not to do that again...
but that's just me

I hear ya there JohnBoy...Is the remote start something that a DIY'er can do?? Or is it a wireing nightmare??

Im gonna keep as much of the electronics like that (remote start, alarm ect..) factory as I can..Too darn expensive otherwise!!
