Hi All
I Have a 2004 Excursion that i picked up just this past Dec it is a V10 4x4 Limited.
I have already done some mods with more on the way.
It has a cat back exhuast new Y pipe
The truck has a warn 12k winch on the front with the bumper extender kit on it.
A MAC Cold Air intake is next and it will be chipped eventualy.
An external tranny filter is also on the short list.
The big problem right now that I do not have a solution to is the Stock front springs are pretty much done for with the extra weight of the winch hanging off the front, and the weak factory springs have led to it pounding off the bump stops over moderate bumps. Eventually I will be mounting a Buckstop winch bumper and with the added weight of that I belive most of the avalible factory springs will be pushed right over the edge.
Has any one mounted a winch bumper on their EX and what mods did you meake to beef up the the front springs? I do quite a bit of hyway driving (about 500 miles or more a week) so ride quality is important.
On anouther note I towed for the first time with it a couple weeks back and it was all over the road and that is being polite. To put it bluntly it was a FN bitch to drive towing the 28 ft holiday tralier. I have contacted LANDYOT about his radius rods to fix that issue hopefully I hear back soon from him.
Also truck has a factory Rear stbilizer bar so will an upgrade to a larger bar help.
I should point out I have no interest in lifting the truck.
Matthew

First, WELCOME to the X-Files!
Second, allow me to explain my opinion of the OEM rear anti-swaybar ...
When I had my '01 LTD X, it came without a rear swaybar, so I installed a Hellwig swaybar. I must admit I was impressed with the improvement that bar provided. I was also skeptical of the OEM swaybar because it attached to the axle in a different location than the Hellwig (attached further inboard).
When I bought an '05 EB X, it came with an OEM rear swaybar, and I quickly realized my previous skepticism was misplaced. I was more impressed with the OEM swaybar than I was with the Hellwig bar.
Also, if you're thinking of replacing your shock absorbers, I had the adjustable Ranchos on my '01, and now have Bilsteins on my '05. I will be switching back to Ranchos at my next shock change because the Bilsteins provide a very bumpy ride in comparison. BTW, when I installed the Ranchos, I set them at their medium setting and never touched them again. |
