The story
Car sat for over 5 years with a harsh misfire before purchasing.
While tearing the engine down for a rebuild, I found out it was a Jasper engine bored .020 over. The bearings were also oversize and did not look healthy. Some pistons were stif.caf on the connecting rods. After new rings/bearings and top end rebuild I got 6k hard miles out of it before spinning the #5 bearing at the rev limiter. This engine topped out at 125 mph according to gps. 5th gear synchro was shot and 3rd on its way out.
So I bought a junkyard engine with clean bearings and a trans with ~90k miles and started over. Still driving it daily and has about 7k miles. Engine is much more powerful, trans is much smoother. Had it up to 128 mph so far with the same gps — Blue93pgt
