Now you can pull the side body bumper trim back and wedge a large screwdriver in, to allow enough access to get the plastic poppers out.

As you can see there is an offset to match up with the stock muffler. I ran 2 1/4" all the way into a muffler with a 2 1/4" inlet and a 2" outlet (to match the tailpipe).

Plenty of room for the 3G alternator's adjustment bolt to run in the newly modified slot in the bracket.

New connector click satisfyingly into place and that muther fired right up ! The $6.00 fix !!!!!!!!! You gotta love it ! I'm going to replace every fuel line in the car come Spring !

My die grinder made short work of opening them up until they were plenty big enough to accept the Lincoln's manifold studs. A normal power drill would do the same thing, just takes more time.

There's the large case Taurus 3rd generation 130 amp alternator in place. Note the adjustment bracket's slot has been widened enough that it now requires a larger washer.

New drain plug and washer going in. I like to use the exact size and bolt as the oil pan, to keep the number of spares I need to carry to a minimum.

One of the terminals plugged into the new connector. Note the rubber barbs that keep it weather proof. On the loose black wire note the tang on the metal clip. That clicks into the connector to hold them in.

MSD coil part #8227 works wonders for mileage and performance improvements. You MUST have better than average spark plug wires and a 100% cap and rotor. Increasing the spark plug gap is also recommended.

New studs back into the manifolds. The calipers told us that the passenger manifold side stud centers are considerably wider than the driver's side 3 3/4".

Got bent over the stealership counter for these manifold studs, but believe me it's best to put new ones in now. Their holes are not really tapped and they depend on these specialized studs to get a grip in there. Regular studs will not bite in there...

For a 1990 5.0 litre Town Car these are your Autolite plug #s (2545). I've fooled around with fancier, more expensive plugs, but frankly 5.0 litres love these plugs or Motorcraft plugs. Stock gap on a Lincoln is .050". I gap them between .055 and .0...
