Do the kn filters really work?Are they worth the money?

The answer is yes and yes... K&N filters are one of the least restrictive filters available. It will improve ecomomy and performance, and because you clean it instead of replacing, they will actually save money in the long run...

Be sure not to over oil the filter. They can coat and clog the MAF sensors (if equipped) as well as the throttle body.

I would only like to add that they are not the best when used on turbo charged diesel engines. But when used on naturally aspirated engines they work great.

Even if these filters offered no performance advantage whatsoever (which they do), they would be worth the money because they are reusable and washable.

Love the reusable aspect. I run one in my 2000 Excursion and in my Galaxie. I've run them in all of my Fords, actually. Worth the $50 (or so). New air filters for my Excursion are nearly $10 every 5,000 miles. It adds up quickly.

OK if it worth the $50 for the filter change what about the K&N complete intake system replacement,dose it add any more power or fuel economy that cost around $200 how soon would that pay for itself ?
