About the 1977–1979 Ford Ranchero

A Ford Ranchero from the generation archive from the generation archive

The 1977–1979 LTD II Ranchero brought Ford's car-truck hybrid into its final chapter, and the builds here show everything from a black '77 tucked away in a garage to a green '79 parked outside a cabin and a sharp silver-and-maroon '79 sitting in a driveway. Owners are keeping these alive with aftermarket gauges set into woodgrain dashes, tow hitches on the back, and interiors still sporting that distinctive 'RANCHERO 500' badging with red upholstery.

The story

This truck used to be my fathers, when he ran the Fire safety crew at I-70 Speedway in Sedelia, MO. I got the keys to it when i turned 18, and the truck had sat for about 3 years. when i'm done with it, it'll have a 302 kicking out about 400 HP Before NOS or Forced Induction. I don't even know if i'll nos it or not. still debating that and the forced induction.

I delivered pizza in the truck for about a year, getting 8 MPG on the FREEWAY!!! yeah, you can see why i quit that job! i can talk for hours upon hours about this old girl and our adventures together. If you're ever bored, drop me a line... — Razor_69
