1965 Ford Mustang “Kathy”
About the 1964–1973 Ford Mustang
The First-Gen Mustang community here covers everything from sleek 1969 convertibles in black to bold 1966 ragtops posed against mountain landscapes and 1967 coupes sporting aggressive hood scoops on the lawn. You'll find these builds in every stage — from bare-metal interiors with wiring harnesses and floor jacks mid-restoration to finished rides with GT/CS stripes showing off in the sun.
The story
I inherited this car from my Father who was killed befor I was born. I started working on it in 1994 and have been going ever since. Its taken every spare dime I have ever earned, ruined the first date with my wife, came close to leaving us on our wedding night and has been on the back of a tow truck more than any other car I have ever owned. I still love it but the more I spend the more it wants. Its been ground up restored twice, and now needs a wireing harness.
Future plans...I want to make this car a Shelby gt350 clone, dressed in Guardsman Blue w/ Wimbledon White Stripes, and all the interior and exterior trim possible. Put '93 Cobra fuel injection on my 289, convert to 5 spd tranny w/ the stock looking shifter, re-gear the rear w/ 3.73 and Torque Thrust Rims. My goal is to have a 350 hp car that has good street manners, and A/c. Then do all the Shelby Suspension mods from 1965 to get the handling dialed in. — 2FFords
