About the 1963-1965 Mercury Marauder

The 1963-1965 Mercury Marauder was not a standalone model. Marauder was the name Mercury gave to a slanted fastback hardtop roofline, introduced mid-year in 1963 (the so-called 1963 1/2 cars) on the Monterey, Monterey Custom, and S-55, then offered across the Monterey, Montclair, and Park Lane lines for 1964 and 1965. The roof existed to homologate a slipperier profile for NASCAR, where the reverse-slant Breezeway roof was costing Mercury speed on the superspeedways. Power came from Ford's FE-series V8s: the 390, the 406 (1963 only), and from mid-1963 the 427.
