The C4 Chevrolet Corvette ran from 1984 through 1996, skipping the 1983 model year entirely (43 pilot cars were built, none sold). It was an all-new car on a uniframe structure with a clamshell hood, starting with the 205 hp Cross-Fire Injection 350 in 1984 and ending with the 330 hp LT4 in 1996, standard on the Grand Sport and optional on other manual cars. The headline act was the 1990-1995 ZR-1, powered by the Lotus-designed 32-valve DOHC LT5 rated at 375 hp, then 405 hp from 1993.
