The 2008 BMW 5 Series received the E60 midcycle refresh, with revised front and rear styling and updated iDrive. The naming moved up a step: the 528i used a 3.0-liter N52 six rated at 230 horsepower, and the 535i introduced the twin-turbocharged 3.0-liter N54 six rated at 300 horsepower, both offered with all-wheel drive as 528xi and 535xi. The 550i continued with the 360 horsepower 4.8-liter V8, and the M5 kept the 500 horsepower S85 V10 with a choice of seven-speed SMG or six-speed manual in the US.
