The 1989 Chevrolet Celebrity is a mid-size GM A-body offered as a four-door sedan and five-door station wagon, the two-door coupe having been discontinued after 1988. It shared its front-wheel-drive platform with the Buick Century, Oldsmobile Cutlass Ciera, and Pontiac 6000. The base 2.5 L (151 cu in) Tech IV (Iron Duke) inline-four carried a 98 hp rating and gained roughly 12 hp late in the model year, while the optional fuel-injected 2.8 L (173 cu in) V6 produced 125 hp, backed by a standard three-speed automatic. 1989 was the final year for the Celebrity sedan, with sedan production ending in July 1989 and only the station wagon continuing into 1990.
