The 2003 Ford Excursion is the changeover year for the diesel. Ford replaced the 7.3L Power Stroke turbo-diesel V8 (250 hp) with the 6.0L Power Stroke turbo-diesel V8 (325 hp, 560 lb-ft) partway through the model year, so a 2003 Excursion can have either diesel. The 6.0L paired with the new 5R110W TorqShift five-speed automatic. The gasoline 5.4L Triton V8 and 6.8L Triton V10 continued. For 2003 the Ford Excursion added the Eddie Bauer trim and received a revised front suspension.
