The 2008 Ford F-450 opened the second-generation Ford Super Duty (2008-2010) and was the first year the F-450 was sold as a factory pickup, a crew-cab dual-rear-wheel truck positioned above the F-350. Its diesel was the new 6.4L Power Stroke twin-turbocharged V8, rated at 350 net horsepower and 650 lb-ft of torque, replacing the earlier 6.0L; the 6.8L Triton V10 gasoline engine remained available on chassis cabs. Power went through a five-speed TorqShift automatic, and the 6.4L added a diesel particulate filter to meet tighter emissions rules.
