The 1960 Ford Thunderbird was the final year of the second-generation Square Bird, offered as a hardtop coupe and convertible on the unibody platform. The 352 cubic inch FE V8 (300 gross horsepower) remained standard and the 430 cubic inch MEL V8 (350 gross horsepower) stayed optional. New for 1960 were triple round taillights on each side, a three-bar grille, and an optional manually operated sliding steel sunroof on the hardtop, one of the first offered on an American production car.
