The 1968 Ford Thunderbird continued the fifth generation in two-door and four-door Landau forms on a body-on-frame chassis. It offered the 390 cubic inch FE V8 at 315 gross horsepower and a new 429 cubic inch 385-series Thunder Jet V8 rated at 360 gross horsepower. Federally required side marker lights were added for 1968.
