The 2002 Ford Thunderbird revived the two-seat roadster concept as the eleventh generation, built on Ford's rear-wheel-drive DEW98 platform shared with the Lincoln LS and Jaguar S-Type. It was a convertible with a power soft top and an optional removable hardtop featuring round porthole windows, styled to echo the 1955 to 1957 originals. Power came from a 3.9L DOHC 32-valve aluminum V8 rated at 252 SAE net horsepower with a five-speed automatic, and the car was named Motor Trend Car of the Year for 2002.
