1988 Honda CRX Specs & Photos
The 1988 Honda CRX launched the second-generation CRX (EF chassis, ED/EE/EC codes), sharing the new fourth-generation Civic platform and adopting double-wishbone suspension at all four corners. This two-seat hatchback was offered in the US as the economy HF, the DX, and the Si, the last powered by a 1.6L SOHC 16-valve PGM-FI four (D16A6) rated at 105 hp (SAE net). The HF used a lean-burn 1.5L SOHC 8-valve tuned for high fuel economy while the DX ran a 1.5L 16-valve unit, with a 5-speed manual standard and a 4-speed automatic optional. The restyled body was more aerodynamic than the 1987 original, marking 1988 as the first year of this generation.
