The 1998 Honda Prelude was a carryover year of the fifth generation (1997-2001, BB6 chassis), a two-door coupe. Every US model used the 2.2L (2,157 cc) H22A4 DOHC VTEC four, rated 195 hp with the five-speed manual and 190 hp with the four-speed automatic. Two trims were offered: the base Prelude and the Type SH, whose Active Torque Transfer System (ATTS) added a torque-vectoring front differential. The Type SH was manual only, while the base Prelude could be had with the automatic.
