The 1999 Honda Prelude received the fifth generation's mid-cycle refresh, which raised the 2.2L (2,157 cc) H22A4 DOHC VTEC to 200 hp with the five-speed manual and 195 hp with the four-speed automatic, up from 195 and 190 hp respectively. The two-door coupe continued in base and Type SH trims, the latter carrying the Active Torque Transfer System (ATTS) torque-vectoring front differential. Exterior styling and interior detailing were lightly updated for the year.
