Jaguar XKE
1962 Jaguar XKE Specs & Photos
The 1962 Jaguar XKE is an early Series 1 E-Type (badged XK-E in North America), carrying the 3.8-liter (3781 cc) XK dual-overhead-camshaft inline-six rated at 265 hp gross and fed by three SU carburetors. It was offered as a two-seat fixed head coupe and an open two-seater roadster, both using a four-speed Moss manual gearbox whose first gear was not synchronized. Four-wheel disc brakes and fully independent rear suspension carried over from the model's 1961 launch, making 1962 a carryover year within the 3.8-liter Series 1 run that preceded the October 1964 switch to the 4.2-liter engine.
