The 1986 Jeep Grand Wagoneer is a full-size four-door SUV built on the long-running SJ platform. Power came from the AMC 360 cubic inch (5.9L) V8, still fed by a two-barrel carburetor and rated at 144 hp (net) with 280 lb-ft of torque, driving through the TorqueFlite 727 three-speed automatic and Selec-Trac four-wheel drive. It remained a carryover year within the 1984-1991 Grand Wagoneer production span, retaining the standard faux-wood side trim and leather-trimmed cabin that separated it from the smaller Wagoneer Limited. Fuel injection was never fitted, leaving the carbureted 360 in place for this model year.
