The 1978 Lincoln Continental kept its full-size fifth-generation body while downsized rivals shrank around it, with a 400 cubic inch V8 standard and the 460 optional. Curb weight ran well over two tons in either sedan or coupe form. The downsized Panther-platform replacement was two years away.
