The 1987 Mazda B2000 is the second and final year of the B2000 name within Mazda's 1986-1993 rear-wheel-drive compact pickup generation. It carried the 2.0L (1998cc) FE SOHC 8-valve carbureted inline-four, rated around 86 hp, with a standard 5-speed manual and an optional automatic in regular-cab and Cab Plus extended-cab bodies. For 1987 Mazda added the 2.2L B2200 to the range, above the base B2000 and alongside the 2.6L B2600 4x4 that had been in the line since 1986. After 1987 the B2000 name was dropped, with the B2200 becoming the base gasoline model for 1988.
